Truth be told, I’ve tried twice before. In 2015 I got as far as September. In 2017 I got as far as June. I can look back now and see that
a) I lacked the skills
b) I lacked the knowledge to make it “useful” to more than a few geeks (and even they did not engage).
So, there are multiple motivations
a) gain new skills around web design, social media and information management (especially that) etc
b) gain new knowledge around climate politics and history (especially around getting beyond the Eurocentric view I’ve got – the so-called “dumbbell world”
c) meet new people from Around the Burning World
