Australian Mining Industry Council

Set up in 1967, it advocated for the mining industry (the clue is in the name).

Became so unhinged over land rights and environmental issues by the early 1990s that tanked its brand and had to rename itself as the Minerals Council of Australia.

Together with the Business Council of Australia it gave us the “Australian Industry Greenhouse Network” in the early 1990s.

More recently the MCA gave then-Treasurer Scott Morrison the lump of coal (suitably lacquered to avoid smudging) for his 2017 “don’t be afraid” stunt in parliament.

So, classy.
